I love painting. The smell of linseed oil and turpentine. The tactile quality of paint.

I have been influenced by Jean-Baptiste Simeon Chardin, the Glasgow Boys, the Scottish Colourists, William Nicholson and many others. I enjoy the ability to lose myself on canvas and sometimes even get paid to do so!

I feel that my strengths lie in composition and design: my interests extend from still life and landscape to portraiture and genre painting. In the last couple of years I have been looking at and exploring the idiosyncratic characters I see around and about Glasgow.

I like living and working in Glasgow, and complain endlessly that I miss “grey ground and tenements” when I am made to go away on holiday – but as a recent trip to the North of Scotland proves it usually produces several paintings! I have an ever present drive to create something, and cannot stop looking, no matter where I am.

All paintings are Oil on Linen, and some paintings can be reproduced as high quality signed giclee prints – no more than 5 prints will be produced of any work.
